60 years ago KRVS started as a very small student station on the campus of then SLI. Over the years the station grew and provided student led programming to the campus of now USL. In the 1980’s with the new affiliation with NPR, KRVS could not be both a student run station and a NPR affiliate.
Flash forward to 2023 and KRVS is returning to it’s roots by hosting KampusFM. This will be a station for the students run by the students. From humble beginnings in 1963 to the reintroduction in 2023, we are proud to be a part of campus life here at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The studio is still housed in Burke (now Burke-Hawthorne Hall) room 145.
Over the next few months, we will be expanding the daily offerings so don’t judge us by what you hear today. Tomorrow will be bigger and better than the day before.
